Tesla Firmware 8.0 is here and I’m going to do a short series of posts on my thoughts on the different areas of 8.0 update for the pre-Autopilot series of cars like I did for other updates in the past, but since I know that a number of owners are still waiting to get the 8.0 update I wanted to share the release notes and screenshots that cover all the changes on the pre-AP cars while they’re waiting.
The most significant improvements in 8.0 are in these areas:
- Autopilot (for cars with autopilot hardware enabled)

Most of my music in on a USB in FLAC format. I really wish there was a USB search capability on either song name or artist. Looks like they took away the alpa search ribbon for USB. I wonder if the player will continue playing a paused USB song in the wee hours of the evening or did they fix that, I hope??
USB is slowly (very) improving over time but my impression is they’d just like to kill it if they could. It obviously doesn’t get a lot of testing or use by those developing it.
Navigation needs to suggest alternate routes. Almost all cars have it theses days and it’s not even required that TEsla Solve for it. Integrate WAZE into navigation would be great.
Agreed, shameful they still haven’t added that.
